In response to the climate changes and drought of 2024, Francesco Spadafora, a Sicilian producer, decided to advance the harvest to protect the vines from extreme heat. This led to the creation of “CuGino,” a white wine made from Grillo grapes, characterized by a low alcohol content and a sulfur-free winemaking process. Additionally, Spadafora chose sustainable bottles, eliminating plastic to reduce environmental impact. This is an example of how innovation and sustainability can address the challenges of climate change.
