Tasting for the Slow Wine guide

Francesco Abate, taster and coordinator of the guide published by Slow Food with name Slow Wine, tastes the wines in the cellar for the next guide publication. Up to this point everything seems normal, but it really doesn’t work like this.

How many guides come to the cellar to taste the wines? None, just them, and how come other guides analyze the wines by tasting them at lots of hundreds of Km distance, at their own houses, and not in the context where the wines are born, checking at the same time the cellar and vineyards? 

I don’t really understand, other questions and comments are up to you.
